BIO:

Kevin grew up in Lisle, IL and attended Naperville North High School.  During his senior year, he received All-American honors and led the Huskies to a 6A IYSA State Championship.  During his club years, Kevin played for the Chicago Magic winning many State and Regional Titles and competed for a USYSA National Championship.  Kevin also played for the U16 and U18 United States National Teams.  During his tenure with the U18 National team, he participated in the World Youth Games in Moscow, Russia in 1998. Kevin’s college career consisted of playing at top division one schools, Wake Forest University and St. Louis University.  A strong run at a National Championship culminated in an Elite Eight finish his final year at St. Louis.  Kevin also played for the Boulder Rapids Reserves and Chicago Fire Reserves PDL teams, both teams reaching the National Finals in back to back years. Unfortunately he sustained several major injuries during his college years, withholding his hopes for a professional career.

Kevin has over 20 years of coaching experience.  He began coaching at the young age of 17 while senior in high school. For the majority of his coaching career, he was based out of the Chicagoland area.  He coached for several of the premier clubs including Colorado Rapids Youth, FC United, Chicago Fire Jrs, Eclipse Select Soccer Club and the Chicago Magic. Kevin also coached for two years in Eugene, Oregon for the Eugene Timbers Football Club.  He currently holds a USSF B license.  While coaching at the Chicago Magic, he won State Championships with both boys and girls teams.  He currently coaches five teams at Crestmoor Cranmer based out of Denver. Before taking on teams at Crestmoor Cranmer, Kevin coached Colorado Rapids ECNL teams.

He has trained players who have made State, Regional and National teams as well as D1, D2 and D3 athletes.  Kevin has clocked in over 2,000 private trainings and small group sessions. He has made soccer his life both as a player and as a coach.  He is passionate about the game which inspires him to teach all levels of players with the intention of helping them reach their highest potential.  Currently he resides in Highlands Ranch, Colorado with his wife, Jacqueline and their two sons, Xavier and Oscar.

MISSION:

My intention with all of the players I work with is to improve their game in a multitude of ways: technical, tactical, mental and physical. My first focus is to teach all the technical aspects. I cover all facets of the game including: passing, receiving, dribbling, different moves to get out of pressure, various ways to beat defenders and multiple techniques on how to strike a ball. In order to have a powerful shot, a sound first touch, adept dribbling and clean passing the techniques need to be repeated. And they need to be repeated correctly and with intensity. Over time the necessary skills are developed. My second focus is to train these skills in pressure situations which allows players to grow in a tactical sense and enhance their decision making abilities. Soccer is a game of speed, and not just physical speed, but mental speed. It is the smartest players who are able to fully maximize their soccer potential. Soccer I.Q is becoming ever so important in this day in age with so many quality players. You need to be skilled, smart and athletic. Like in any sport you want to take the ball forward and if you cannot go forward you want to keep it. Lastly, within my training sessions I work on core strengthening, speed ladders and many other exercises to enhance speed and strength.

Interwoven into developing the three primary aspects of the sport I also instill a strong work ethic and enjoyment of the game. Soccer is an athletic art form. Your craft must be mastered at home in your backyard, at the park, in your basement, or at your school gym. Somewhere, anywhere, it doesn’t matter. This is the intangible stuff that can only be done by you, the player. Not mom, not dad, not coach. You are responsible for your game and your development within it. This is the glue that binds all elements of you as a player together. Over the course of my trainings I do my best to motivate and inspire all of my players to work on their own. Team practices are obvious and foundational. Getting private trainings are great and supplemental. But in order to truly maximize your highest potential you need to work on your own.  So we train hard, that is integral to the services I provide. I did as a player and now I do so as a coach.  At the end of it all, enjoyment must be at the core of any player’s development.  Serious training can be and should be fun.  I get excited for every single session I coach and look forward to seeing you at a training soon.
